Sheep Hide Tanning Class
Weekend Sheep Hide Tanning Immersion at Mount Wolfe Farm, Caledon | $450
Join us for a hands-on, full-immersive weekend at Mount Wolf Farm where we’ll guide you through the process of transforming raw sheep skins into soft, beautiful rugs using natural, ancestral and modern methods.
We’ll cover -
• Hide preparation and storage
• Education of environmentally friendly tanning processes you can practice at home
• Hide care, ethical sourcing, and responsible harvesting
You’ll leave with the confidence to tan sheep skins (this method applicable to tanning most other animal skins) and take home your own sheep rug tanned by you.
Camping — Arrive Friday between 3 and 4 pm to set up camp and familiarize yourself with the landscape and people.
Depart Sunday 5 pm with a new skill, friendships, confidence and your own sheep rug.
Food - Oatmeal breakfasts, coffee, tea, hearty soups, chili and bread are provided.
*Participants are responsible for their own food and cooking based on their specific dietary and energy needs. An outdoor kitchen and cold storage will be provided but recommend you bring your own camp stove.
No experience is necessary— come ready to work hard, get messy, have fun and remember an ancient skill.
Refund Policy - Preparation for this event is done well in advance. Though we cannot refund your ticket, you are welcome to transfer/sell to another person.
